Bloggin....Bloggin' in the cube! Wed., 8/22/07

sittin' in my cubicle
in my job that pays my bills
eating last night's Indian food leftovers
in a tupperware container with a green lid.

Ever since I wrote "bloggin'....bloggin' in the cube!" in my title I've been singing it over and over in my head to the tune of Ashford and Simpson's 1980's R&B hit, "Solid." You know, the one that goes, "Solid...solid as a rock!"

Don't be fooled by my google-supported musical-savanteness...I had no idea who did that song and I went through several rounds of both Google and Itunes to find that it was Ashford and Simpson.

Who the hell are they?

Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson are a husband and wife songwriting/producing team. They penned familiar tunes such as: "Reach out and Touch Somebody's Hand", "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing Baby". They continue writing today and most recently are credited with the song, "Tears Dry on Their Own" from Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black."

Huh. A little piece of musical trivia for you.

But I digress. Or maybe I don't.

See, the reason I am writing this blog today is because I woke up this morning and I said to myself, "Self, you don't BLOG enough."

It's not that I think that I have some profound wisdom to impart on the great WORLD WIDE WEB (ha, or rather the 5 of you who read this thing). Rather, I KNOW first hand what it's like to sit in a cubical all day long while another 8 hours of your life is mercilessly sucked away into the chasm of corporate American and our desperate dependence on it. Basically, I'm just your average, regular person who paid someone to make my myspace look fancy, paid someone to take most of those photos...oh ya, and I happen to write a whole bunch of songs about life...maybe you can relate to some of them. Hope so, that's a big reason that I do what I do.

I'd like to start doing this...BLOG thing...at least WEEKLY. And I'd love to keep it casual and interactive. Please, let me know your raw, candid, honest thoughts. Ask questions. Give me something...something...we cubists must stick together! *Incidentally, even if you are not technically a cubist, I am sure your J-O-B isn't you, getting up every morning, heading out the door to something you actually enjoy doing AND getting paid for it!

If it is, then fuck you.

Ha. kidding....

So, what to expect? I dunno. I'm still figuring this whole thing called "Life" out. Maybe you are too. Maybe we can do it together. Huh? What do you say? Huh? Won't you be my neighbor?
Fred Rogers...a good man. Sincerely. Albeit, a bit creepy, how many of you honestly enjoyed him as a child? I did. Seriously. I did. I liked it when he changed into his tennis shoes. It made me happy.

Alright, suppose I should get back to what I am getting paid for.

Thanks for reading the BLOG...feel free to leave comments, questions, and criticism.
That's what this world is missing. Criticism. And judgement. Ya, not nearly enough of that.....
