Wreck of a Woman
My newest song (which I posted my home recording of a few weeks back and then took down) is now up again on www.myspace.com/julieneumark. This version is a tad more polished, though still rough....in fact, all of my songs up right now fall into the "demo" category. They are the stripped down, bare bones of my most recent tunes. I spent a day or so in the studio with CARY BEARE (co-writer of "Take Me") and my boys, ALAN MALUNAO JR and LUIS OLIART recording these tracks live, old school style. (incidentally, i much prefer this to the modern day piecing together/"fixing in post" production method.)
This demo was created as a sample to give to the producers I am meeting with about potentially producing my full album this fall. I want them to have a really clean and raw feel for what I am bringing to the table and then I want to hear what they think they can bring to the table and hopefully i will find a marriage between the two with someone! Mark, my manager has just sent out the first two cds to two of the producers I am interested in and we are in the process of setting up meetings for late July / early August. I'll keep you posted!
So, this tune - Wreck of a Woman. I wrote it in about an hour or so. It came out fast like most of my favorites do...it's like there is a songwriting fairy or something that waves her wand and, poof! Insta-song! I was going through my heartbreak of late (which I have written about previously) and I just took a really honest look at the way i was behaving and feeling. One of the most difficult things in this process of letting go has been to just sit in what I am feeling. Not to "distract" myself in the various ways that we as human beings have gotten so good at doing through an array of debaucheries. Instead, expressing it all through music - I can't imagine not having that outlet. I just hope that this song and others can help other people to express and feel understood in their own paralell lives.
