A 24 hour tour, a 24 hour tour..... 6/13/2006
Welcome to all my new nyc friends and fans! You guys really made the night great!! Especially new fans Stephanie, Jessica, and Carrie and your FABULOUS table....thanks for the shout-outs and sing alongs and I am humbled by your Ani Defranco comparison :)
For those of you who weren't able to be there...well, there wouldn't have been any room for you anyway! The place was PACKED! It was my first experience of wall-to-wall people at The Bitter End. Check out www.myspace.com/julieneumark to hear what
you missed...I posted a live version of "Spare Change" from the night. Once again, a big thank you to BILL MESSINETTI for sitting in with us...you are a pro and we were lucky to have you!!!!
So, 24 hours in nyc...just for fun, here are some "do's" and "don'ts" I wanted to pass along to you all:
DON'T get a car service from the airport, DO get a cab. I decided to get a car service so the car would BE THERE when we arrived at 5am and we wouldn't have to wait around to get a cab. HA! Instead, we waited around for the car service as we sleepily watched empty cabs drive by.
DO confirm late arrival at the hotel that you specifically booked for the night before you arrived just so you could have a bed to crawl into when you arrived at the crack of dawn off the red-eye. I actually paid for a friday night in the hotel just so we could sleep right away when we got in and because we didn't "confirm", they canceled the room!! PRICELINE never said anything about confirming!!!!! sorry aj! ;)
DON'T try and catch a cab in Time Square at rush hour. (Don't ask. Just DON'T do it)
DO get sushi from the place upstairs from The Bitter End...mmmmm, yummy....magic roll... :)
DO rock out with an amazing band to a room full of rowdy people. fun. :)
DON'T , in your moment of invincible rockstardom, let your libido replace your brain. (uh, this is what i've heard...just passing along.....)
DO get a late night slice (it absorbs all that alcohol and poor judgment, plus if you can't remember eating it, the calories don't count)
DON'T "rest your eyes" at 4am, one hour before your car service comes to pick you up and take you to the airport for your 6am flight. (you figure it out)
and finally,
DON'T do nyc in 24 hours!!!
So, I'm off to write, write, and write some more in prep for the upcoming album. Our next full band gig is in August when we venture back to OH/KY once again. Rock it. :) jules

Nice entry Jules. Also, DO rent gear from S.I.R. on 36th and 10th Ave. Great guys and reliable gear. But DON'T wheel the road case 10 blocks back to your hotel, that's what taxis are for.
